first on 13... we're following a developing story on des moines' south side this morning. des moines police are now investigating an overnight stabbing there... it happened just before 2:30 ... a person who had been stabbed showed up to the quiktrip on se 14th... just minutes later, police tracked down a vehicle they believe belongs to the suspect... that

and thorton near the dunkin donuts. police aren't saying whether an arrest was made or what charges they'll face. the victim was sent to an area hospital. no word on their condition this morning. a series of delays is over this morning for a boone murder trial. after being postponed five times, jury selection finally begins today in the case of alexander fazzino... fazinno is facing a first degree murder charge. he's accused of killing his wife, emily in the couple's home in january 2012. authorities found emily's body in the bathroom. fazzino's trail has been delayed five times... most recently so he could care for his daughter as she recovered from a bone marrow transplant. his trial has been moved to winneshiek county. jury selection is expected to begin as early as this morning. police say an uber driver is responsible for a deadly shooting rampage in michigan over the weekend. police say jason dalton was involved in three separate

night... he's suspected of shooting a woman in a parking lot at an apartment complex.. then later shooting two men at a car dealership... police also believe he shot five people at a cracker barrel parking lot. they say dalton had ties to the community and did not have a criminal record. investigators think dalton continued to pick up riders between the shootings. "we don't know anything about a motive right now..right now our common denominator is him." six people were killed in the attacks. two are in critical condition this morning... des moines police are looking into a woman accused of setting a man on fire... 47-year-old amy thornton of des moines is now facing charges of attempted murder and willful injury. the des moines register reports it happened saturday at a home in the 1900 block of east walnut street. police found a man with burns... he claims it was thornton who lit him on fire. the two were apparently engaged.

polk county jail. we're tracking the potential for ice jam flooding this morning... several jams were reported overnight along the des moines river basin including near fort dodge and fraser. river rises of 3 to 4 feet have occurred behind these jams and they can lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. the jams are expected to move south down the des moines river... already, it and the racoon river are near flood stage in des moines. luckily, cooling temperatures and slowing snow melt should slow further runoff... stopping major problems. warmer temps this weekend had many thinking ahead to gardening season... but one tool gardeners rely on will be a little harder to find this year. channel 13's josh nguyen is live this morning from cherry glen learning farm in polk city to tell us about the drastic

thousands of active and retired union workers are facing unexpected futures this morning... last night the local 'teamsters' chapter came together in des moines... to discuss looming pension cuts. the central states pension fund is expected to go bankrupt within

workers at risk of having their pension cut by up to 70 percent each month. the cuts -- which go into effect july first -- will impact more than 6 - thousand iowans. union members say it all came out of nowhere... and with no warning. - i worked 50 - 60 hours a week and thats what all of us had to do. it was good money but thats how you got what you got and then to see it go away like that... its pretty depressing - critics say corruption and misuse of money is partially to blame. senator chuck grassley is now investigating the issue... union members will vote on the cuts proposal sometime between now and july. book worms are facing a closure in the metro this morning... the clive library is closing it's doors to patrons starting today. it's only for a week though. they'll be getting new carpets and a newly reconfigured layout. returns can still be made to the outdoor drop box. the library reopens to the public next

a series of delays is over this morning for a boone murder trial. after being postponed five times, jury selection finally begins today in the case of alexander fazzino... fazinno is facing a first degree murder charge. he's accused of killing his wife, emily in the couple's home in january 2012. authorities found emily's body in the bathroom. fazzino's trail has been delayed five times... most recently so he could care for his daughter as she recovered from a bone marrow transplant. his trial has been moved to winneshiek county. jury selection is expected to begin as early as this morning. a newton man must face a judge today on attempted murder charges. 50 year old john britton faces three counts of attempted murder. his plea hearing is scheduled for this morning in jasper county court. police say he rammed his car into another car... carrying his estranged wife and their

our top story... overnight ice jams could cause problems for those along the des moines river... several jams were reported overnight near fort dodge and fraser. they're now expected to move south down the des moines river.... flash flooding of low lying areas is possible, but cooler temps should prevent major problems. currently the des moines and raccoon rivers are below, but near flood stage in des moines. we're learning more about an overnight stabbing... it happened just before 2:30 on des moines south side. police say a fight broke out at a party near the quiktrip on se 14th. one man was received a minor stab wound and was sent to the hospital. soon after, police tracked down a suspect vehicle... and arrested 22 - year - old daniel cruz. he is now charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
